The Centro de Cultura Contemporánea Conde Duque Madrid is hosting the opening of the installation by Rafa Munárriz in collaboration with the Programa de Ayudas a las Artes Plásticas y Visuales del Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Huarte and the Dirección General de Cultura del Gobierno de Navarra. The event will take place in the Central Courtyard of the Conde Duque Centro today Wednesday 6 October, between 5 and 9 pm.

For the exhibition, called "Approach to static reality" ("Aproximación a una realidad estética"), the artist Rafa Munárriz starts from an interest in the creation of living spaces. During lockdown, he initiated a line of work in which he studies the spatial relationship of the body with its domestic environment, starting with a series of plasterboard sculptures that he would later take to metal, seeking finishing treatments that allow the perception of movement through reflection.

In this case, the group of sculptures originates in its entirety from segments of rectangular reinforcing wire mesh. By producing a series of incisions or patterns in the mesh, Munárriz makes a series of individual-oriented sculptures, developing shapes that configure internal spaces around our own body and which extend to the floor of the central courtyard through the continuous movement of shadows.

The exhibition will remain open until Sunday 12 December, Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 9 pm, Sundays and public holidays from 10 am to 2 pm.
