On June 8, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Castilla y Leon (MUSAC) opened the exhibition "Contradistancia" [The Distance Within] by Prudencio Irazábal. It is the first exhibition of the Basque artist in this museum, which thus recognizes Irazábal's contributions to contemporary painting over the last twenty-five years. His works are defined by their great luminosity and intense emotionality, created through complex colors and far from any narrative or symbolism. The exhibition will show a journey through the artist's work from the 1990s to the present, captured in 32 paintings.
Prudencio Irazábal (1954, Puentelarrá, Álava) uses color in an abstract way, creating depths and spatial sensations through multiple layers of paint. His works evoke a sense of movement and vitality, showing how colors can interact with each other to generate new visual experiences. "Contradistancia" is a major solo exhibition that takes place at a very important moment in the artist's artistic career, in full maturity.
