EN CADA COMIENZO HABITA UN FIN
Galería Pelaires
Opening: Friday, January 23, 2026 7 pm
Galería Pelaires will open on January 23, 2026, at 7 pm the exhibition En cada comienzo habita un fin (In Every Beginning Dwells an End) by German artist Christoph Steinmeyer. The exhibition will be on view on the gallery's ground floor and noble floor.
Renowned for his neosurrealist and deeply conceptual painting, Steinmeyer presents in this exhibition a body of work that questions the notion of originality, the relationship between image and copy, and the very limits of perception. His hyperrealist paintings —often exact replicas of his own works— place the viewer before an unsettling visual experience, in which the familiar is transformed into an ambiguous, dreamlike scene.
Born in Düsseldorf in 1967, Christoph Steinmeyer lives and works in Berlin. Trained in Art History and Philosophy in Cologne and Bonn, his artistic practice develops in close dialogue with theoretical reflection. Throughout his career, he has critically explored the foundations of painting, incorporating references to art history, cinema, contemporary visual culture, and more recently to digital imagery and the mechanisms governing its circulation on the internet. His work is included in prominent international public and private collections.
With the exhibition En cada comienzo habita un fin, Steinmeyer proposes a journey through landscapes and situations that blur the boundaries between the real and the imagined, inviting the viewer to question not only what they see, but also the way in which they see.
